The Core, a groundbreaking new development in Science Central, Newcastle, which will offer state-of-the-art office facilities  took a significant step forward today with the announcement of Creative Space Management being appointed as operator of the building.

Newcastle City Council has appointed the award-winning facilities management and consultancy company to operate the new seven storey building. Creayive Space will begin work immediately on specifications and development of the services.

The Core will provide approximately 2,750sqm of serviced office space is due to open in November 2014, after a 12-month construction project. It will include an Events Space as well as state-of-the-art office facilities  for innovation-led businesses.

The facility will appeal to businesses looking to capitalise on the new urban quarter of Science Central, adjacent to St. James’ Park in the city centre.  Plans for nationally significant new research facilities to be built on neighbouring plots are underway.

Pat Ritchie, Chief Executive said: We are confident we have secured a great team to run the The Core and attract businesses there. We have appointed Creative Space as operators because of their track record in operating Toffee Factory and their ambitious vision for the building.  The experience and knowledge of working with high growth businesses that they bring will be invaluable to the success of the facility.

Toby Hyam of Creative Space Management, said: The Core will appeal to growing companies seeking high quality city centre space on flexible terms. This is a fantastic location for any business wanting to be positioned at the heart of a new urban quarter in Newcastle that will be attracting significant new investment and development. We expect interest to be high from across the country and encourage anyone thinking of relocating to get in touch.

Creative Space first became involved in The Core, then known as the Gateway Building, in 2011, when the company was appointed to support business planning for the proposed facility.
