Leading business woman Fiona Standfield has been appointed to lead the future development of Newcastle Science City

Standfield will take up her post as the new director of Newcastle Science City, the partnership between Newcastle University and Newcastle City Council, in November, joining the organisation for a three year term, bringing more than 20 years’ experience in high-profile and board level roles across the public and private sectors.

The acting chair of the Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust and chair of Northern Stage will take on the lead role in delivering Newcastle Science City’s ambitious aims to advance the cause of the city and the wider region as a driving force for science excellence and industry, including the successful delivery of Science Central.

She said: “I am delighted to be taking up this role as Newcastle Science City embarks upon an exciting new chapter in its development. I feel privileged to have this opportunity to lead the team, build on the success achieved to date and support the innovative partnership.”
