The Core celebrate National Women in Engineering Day with VEX Robotics Challenge

Posted:

The Core are delighted to host the Royal Academy of Engineering and Newcastle College this month as they celebrate the work produced through the Connecting STEM Teachers programme. The programme brings together teams of school pupils to battle it out in the VEX Robotics Challenge final. Teams from each school are currently building and developing their VEX Robots which they will use on the celebration day in head to head skills challenges. The project provides an opportunity for students to ‘think like an engineer’ – planning, designing, building, testing, refining, developing and finally competing.

The celebration day takes place on National Women in Engineering Day and the team would like to invite engineers and other STEM Ambassadors along to join in the fun, chat with students about your career, and maybe act as advisors and judges. STEM ambassadors could join us for all or part of the day which ever best suits your availability. The event will be held on the 23rd June between 10.00am and 2.00pm.

If you’d like to come along please get in touch by emailing ambassadors@ncl-coll.ac.uk or calling 0191 226 6263
