The BIG Autumn move-in at The Core

The Core celebrates nine new business occupiers, all joining our trailblazing workspace community over the last three months.

Following a series of businesses withdrawing to home working in the height of the enforced Covid-19 lockdown, coupled with some impressive expansions and spin-outs from The Core and on to the Newcastle Helix site and wider city, The Core occupancy dropped to an unusually low 52 percent earlier this year. But not for long! Today, The Core is back to pre-pandemic occupancy levels, and over the last three months has welcomed nine new businesses into this Grade A office space in the heart of Newcastle city centre.

So who is new and what do they do?

Asset Management and placemaking experts Broadoak moved six people into a top floor office back in September. This growing consultancy business, which was previously operating from another Newcastle city centre office, is doing a large piece of work for Newcastle Helix and is now perfectly placed to collaborate with the wider community across the 24-acre site.

Norwegian company Global Maritime are next to feature in our ‘The Core Arrivals’ list.  Joining this prime Newcastle Helix workspace community back in September, Global Maritime are an offshore engineering consultancy firm delivering renewable energies world-wide, with the local team focussing specifically on geosciences and engineering of seabed infrastructure, primarily for offshore wind which is booming in the UK. Taking a six-person desk space on level four of The Core, currently housing a three-person team with room to accommodate their growth plans.

Managed IT solutions company ITPS Digital has secured a four-person office on level three of The Core. With a Head Office in Gateshead, this strategic move widens the businesses portfolio and delivers a highly desirable and accessible Newcastle city centre location for its growing team.

Also moving into a large 1000 sq ft. office space on level three of The Core is market research agency Explain MarketResearch. Explain deliver insight and engagement solutions to clients across the UK. The Core are welcoming the 24-strong team into this newly equipped and re-modelled workspace to support their continued growth. .

AWS Software development business Leighton took a 20-desk office on floor six of The Core to accommodate their team. Following a period of remote working due to the pandemic, Leighton have introduced “Flexible Choice” enabling them to choose where they work. As a result they opted for a Newcastle city centre location rather than returning to their previous out-of-town business park office.  The move signals a shift in priorities from team members looking for easy workplace access and to reconnect with people for both business and social purposes by operating within the larger Newcastle Helix community.

You may have read our recent article about specialist software architects Boxmodel joining The Core.  We welcomed this 30-person team and their impressive office fit-out to floor six of The Core back in September. Following a period of rapid growth during their Covid-19-enforced remote working, the team were looking for a new space (allowing for a flexible hybrid approach to office and home working), from which to embrace their new normal.

Property regeneration consultants AspinallVerdi expanded into the North East with a brand new two-person office on level three of The Core overlooking the Catalyst building. With offices across England including northern bases in Leeds and Liverpool, this property regeneration consultancy has big plans to grow a core team of specialists from the popular Newcastle Helix development.

And last, but by no means least, we welcome SkinBioTherapeutics PLC to The Core. This life science company focuses on skin health technology and as well as their brand new strategically placed office within The Core, the business has taken a separate lab space at neighbouring The Biosphere, taking full advantage of the range of space and opportunities available on the Newcastle Helix development.

There are still a few two-to-four-person office spaces yet to let at The Core and the centre team are in conversations with a number of businesses looking to base themselves in this ambitious development. If you would like to join the conversations, view the spaces, or learn more about this Newcastle city centre office space, event space and virtual tenancy offer, please contact info@thecorenewcastle.co.uk.
