Following a competitive process, specialist building and place management company, Creative Space has been appointed to manage The Lumen, Newcastle Helix’s largest commercial office building and one of the largest Grade A offices under construction in the North East.

Creative Space Management has operated in Newcastle for eight years and helped establish Toffee Factory in the Ouseburn Valley and The Core, also on Newcastle Helix. Newcastle City Council have appointed Creative Space to operate this leading-edge building and to continue to operate The Core for the next three years driving further growth for the City and attracting new businesses and high-quality jobs to Newcastle City Centre.

Toby Hyam, Managing Director of Creative Space Management said:

“We are delighted to have been appointed to be Newcastle City Council’s partner both in continuing to operate The Core and launching this outstanding new building, The Lumen, which will open early in 2020 heralding the next exciting stage of growth for Newcastle Helix.”

The Core opened in 2015 and was the first building to be constructed on Newcastle Helix, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.  Providing serviced offices and a programme of events and engagement to companies operating in the growing field of Future City technologies, Newcastle Helix is now home to four buildings with a further four under construction.

Cabinet Member for Employment and Investment, Cllr Ged Bell, said: “We have worked with Creative Space Management for a number of years now, so it is great news that this relationship will be extended as they take over the management function at The Lumen.

“Newcastle Helix is a key site for the council. It is playing a significant role in creating employment opportunities for local people and central the economic prosperity of the city.

“It is already home to many cutting-edge companies and attracting the interest of many more, so having an experienced company managing one of the key buildings is vital.”

The Lumen will provide outstanding workspace for companies from 25 to 500 people and has been designed to make the most of the strong connections to Newcastle University, to the existing companies and businesses already located on Newcastle Helix and to the outstanding network of knowledge-based businesses across the North East.

Pre-letting is now underway.  For details click through to the website here.
