Celebrating Eight Years of Awesomeness

Celebrating Eight Years of Awesomeness

The Core was the first workspace to open its doors on the newly developed Newcastle Helix site in 2014, becoming a central hub for this northern innovation community.

Helix was born out of a partnership between Newcastle University, Newcastle City Council and Legal & General. This 24-acre city centre development is a melting pot of residential, lab, work, research and community space with a focus on data, health and urban science. A landmark building, The Core has been a driving force behind the values and direction of the wider Helix site. Key to this has been The Core’s commitment to building a collaborative community of knowledge-based, research-led businesses, addressing the most pressing challenges for the future of cities.

This November 2022, The Core celebrated its eight birthday with occupiers new and old and we spoke to The Core workspace management company, Creative Space Management, to learn more.

Creative Space Management Managing Director, Paul Taylor, said: “This month we are celebrating eight years of awesomeness at The Core. Our SME business community is central to the Helix ecosystem and part of our role as workspace managers has always been to support those critical relationships and collaborations that can flourish given the right conditions. We connect people and projects with the right space and environments to create those all important ‘magical moments’ where great things can happen.”

The Core is home to 30 occupier businesses. Four of these SMEs were early adopters of Newcastle Helix and moved into The Core back in 2014.  Financial automation technology company Caspian, sensor and activity measurement technology company Axivity, product sampling platform developers SoPost, and health economics company Putnam PHMR have all been with The Core from the start.

The Core community celebrated eight years of awesomeness with cake and individual personalised messages from the Centre Team – thanking occupiers for their commitment to innovation.

The Core offers six floors of Grade A office accommodation, meeting rooms and has a large open plan event and networking space on the ground floor. To make an enquiry about the office of event space, please contact info@thecorenewcastle.co.uk
