Business is blooming at The Core

Posted:

This May we celebrate The Core’s spring-time shoots and look ahead to the summer-time blooms, as we highlight those early business successes of 2022. New businesses have moved into our city centre offices. Teams have grown, taking larger rooms within our innovative workspace. And in-person events are well and truly back on people’s wish-lists, with the return of the regular First Friday networking event, and a boom in event space enquiries and bookings.

In recent months The Core has supported four of our workspace occupiers to expand into larger offices, taking a total of 1800 sq ft of extra space, as they grow their teams and their businesses. The successful small to medium size enterprises (SMEs) are working on a range of themes addressing future city challenges. Growth businesses include  digital agency Motivait, renewable energy firm Global Maritime, strategic insights company Explain and legal experts Savage Silk.

As more businesses return to the workspace full time, or embrace the hybrid part-homeworking-part-office-based model, The Core welcomes three brand new occupiers. Community Interest Company Food and Drink North East, sustainable fashion solution platform creators ZoaRental and tech specialists Solution Performance Group have all joined the workspace community.

Solution Performance Group were previously virtual clients at The Core, benefiting from this much sought-after business address on the landmark Newcastle Helix development, as well as the reception services of The Core team. Since moving into a physical space in December 2021 this fast-expanding-team has already taken a larger workspace within The Core to accommodate their growth.

Gareth Humphreys, Consulting Partner, Solution Performance Group, said:  “We first registered as virtual clients with The Core during the pandemic, as we wanted to relocate our primary business address to our home in the North East. When we were confident that things were beginning to return to normal and as our staff team grew, it was a no-brainer for us to take space in the building too. We couldn’t be happier with our residency – the on-site team are fantastic in making sure everything runs smoothly and we’re proud to call Newcastle Helix our home. Having recently expanded into a larger office space at The Core, we’re looking forward to continued growth and with that, an even bigger presence in the building.”

Virtual clients are also on the up. Unsurprisingly, as markets reopen and brands look to position themselves as part of this innovative North East business and research community, The Core has welcomed six new virtual members since February 2022. The firms have specialisms in finance, analytics, training,  artificial intelligence, graphic design and health tech. The Core Virtual Office packages range from £25 to £70 a month and include a range of service levels that flex to the specific needs of the business.

Alongside the move-ins, new virtual clients and the successful growth of our occupiers, The Core continues to offer a range of collaboration and networking opportunities through the ground floor event space. In the first quarter of 2022, The Core hosted 17 events and welcomed the much-loved First Friday back to the workspace.

First Friday is a Newcastle Helix networking event held at The Core between 8am-10am on the first friday of every month. From start-ups to corporates, public sector and private, entrepreneurs to academic researchers, First Friday has brought thousands of people together in Newcastle city centre since it started more than 11 years ago.
