Legal and financial services firm Savage Silk, move their ambitious team into The Core, Newcastle Helix.

Since Savage Silk began trading in 2014, the business has experienced year on year growth. And just seven years on from taking their first premises, they are announcing their expansion into the landmark Newcastle Helix development in Newcastle city centre; joining 20 more innovative and fast growing businesses already based at The Core.

With offices in Newcastle and Stockton on Tees, the ambitious Savage Silk team set themselves apart from competitors from the very beginning, by offering end-to-end legal and financial services for entrepreneurs, businesses, individuals and families. Their multidisciplinary approach meant clients could benefit from both legal and financial services within one firm. As demand for this holistic service-set has grown, so has the business, and today Savage Silk operate with an impressive team of 23.

Like many businesses, when the pandemic hit in early 2020, Savage Silk supported colleagues out of their office space, and transitioned to a fully remote service. And despite the many challenges experienced through the pandemic, the team worked to maintain and even continued to grow the business.

As a natural consequences to the lengthy lockdowns and periods of remote working, Savage Silk reviewed their property requirements in late 2020, as Director Satpal Pandal, explains:

“It had become apparent over the last few years that we’d outgrown our early office and the space was no-longer conducive with the collaborative way our team worked. As we planned for future growth and the ways in which we could return to the office safely, we looked to The Core on Newcastle Helix to accommodate our changing needs.”

Savage Silk were attracted to the extensive collaboration space both within The Core and across the wider 24-acre Newcastle Helix site, and the many collaboration opportunities that this well-connected community of start-ups, established businesses, public and private bodies delivers. As well as the flexible accommodation design, grow-on office space and supportive Centre Team.

Mr Pandal, said: “The floor layout at The Core works really well for us and we have been able to secure an open plan space for the team to work collaboratively so they can all work in the same environment and share knowledge and information easily.“

The relocation of the office was carried out in just six weeks, which was a testament to the team led by Helen Casely, Savage Silk, Director, who said: “Once we found The Core we knew straight away that this was the right place to be. Amelia, Dan and the team were great and helped solve all the challenges that can come with an office move. Having an on-site Centre Team is a real advantage.”

Savage Silk set up a flexible hot desk system so colleagues can book a desk when they are working in the office. The approach supports the team to re-connect and collaborate safely, as they continue to grow the business in line with market and economy trends.

Savage Silk has exciting plans for growth over the coming months and are recruiting now for a variety of roles. You can learn more about these vacancies here.

The Core community is housed over six floors of Grade A office accommodation and the building benefits from a ground floor event, collaboration and meeting room space.
